Temple Intermediate Library Policy and Procedures
Goals:
  • To promote the enjoyment of literature and reading
  • Teach the information research process such that students can independently
  • Locate, retrieve, evaluate, and present information
  • Totally encourage life-long learning

Overview:
Temple Intermediate is an open, flexible library. Students may use the library and its resources at any time to check out a book, research information, or read independently. The librarian and classroom teachers collaborate to schedule library use and research lessons throughout the year.

All library books are due back in two weeks, but students are encouraged to return their books at any time to get another one. If a book is needed for longer than two weeks, it can easily be renewed.

Each student is given a library barcode for which he is responsible during the school year. This barcode must be presented at the circulation desk each time he checks out materials. Since our circulation is computerized, this procedure serves as a means of verifying that the materials are being checked out to the correct patron.

Overdue fines are not charges, however, the student is required to pay for lost or damaged materials. The parent will be refunded the amount of the lost item if the book is returned in good condition.
